The Joseph and Wolf Lebovic Foundation established these scholarships as an homage to former Waterloo President David Johnston in celebration of his 11-year service to the institution and his dedication to providing international opportunities for students.

Description of the award:
Each year, several grants are given to full-time undergraduate and graduate students from any faculty who engage in an international experience in Israel. This includes participating in a minimally-paid or voluntary co-op work placement, a volunteer placement, or a study term that fulfills academic requirements. The awards range in value from $2,500 to $10,000 apiece and will be granted based on academic performance as well as the kind and length of the experience. Eligible applicants must be interested students who have a minimum average of 70% at the undergraduate level or 75% at the graduate level and are in excellent academic standing. They must also be planning to engage in an international experience in Israel. The process of selecting awards will occur every week. Students should submit their applications promptly after they can verify the specifics of their desired experience by one of the designated deadlines: July 15, November 15, or March 15.

Value description: The maximum amount available for a single-term study experience is $2,500.
The cost of a single-term job or volunteer assignment ranges from $2,500 to $5,000.
Maximum compensation of $10,000 for a bi-semester job or volunteer opportunity.
